Oyster mushroom

The Oyster mushroom, or Pleurotus ostreatus, is an well-known edible mushroom with a mild taste and a scent of anise. The 5 to 25 cm broad cap ranges from white to gray or tan to dark-brown. The flesh is white and firm and frequently used in Japanese and Chinese cuisines.
The Oyster mushroom is wide-spread in temperate and subtropical forests throughout the world; it acts as a primary decomposer on wood.
