Baby turnip

Baby turnip

The baby turnip is a creamy globe in a variety of colours. It is a moderately good source of food fiber, calcium, and vitamins A and C. It forms uniform globe-shaped roots with white skin and a crisp texture. They can be harvested at any stage, as baby-size to full maturity about 4 to 6 cm diameter. The mild and sweet flavor makes it a favorite salad ingredient.

Baby Turnips are only available when freshly harvested and do not keep well. Most baby turnips can be eaten whole, including their leaves. Baby turnips come in yellow-, orange-, and red-fleshed varieties as well as white-fleshed. Their flavor is mild, so they can be eaten raw in salads.
