Baby fennel

Baby Fennel is a biennial or perennial, grown for its pungent swollen leafbases (not a true bulb), leaves, and seeds. Baby fennel is more delicious in the fall than any other time of year. With its soft anise flavor, fennel is sweet, refreshing, and delectable. Just like its larger brothers, baby fennel looks like celery, is kin to carrots and tastes herbaceous, with a hint of mild licorice.
