Feijoa

Feijoa is an evergreen shrub that can be up to 7 m in height. It's related to the guava. Feijoa originates from the highlands of South America, but can also be found today in New Zealand and around the Mediterranean Sea. The fruit is green, oval with a sweet aromatic flavour. The juicy flesh is divided into into seed pulp in the middle and firm flesh near the skin.

Feijoa can be eaten raw or as an ingredient of yogurt, marmelade, chutney, fruit drinks or ice cream. It can also be cooked for use in stews.
