Maracuja

Maracujas are mostly used in juice production, but they are also eaten raw. Their sensitive skin is dark green in the beginning and becomes yellow and wrinkly during the ripening. They are shaped round to ovoid. The pulp contains many edible seeds, which are characteristic for passion fruits. Their taste is very fruity and aromatic, but at the same time slightly to very sour.
The maracuja also called "yellow granadilla", grows mainly in warm tropical regions. Maracujas are available year round. The fruits may be stored for 2-4 weeks at a temperature of 7 – 10° C.
