Green Beans

Green Beans

Green beans or French beans are the unripe fruits of any kind of bean. Varieties have been bred especially for the fleshiness, flavor, or sweetness of their pods. The Kenya bean is an annual plant which is sensitive to frost. Thanks to their nutritional value, beans are held in high esteem. They contain protein, carbohydrates, the minerals potassium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and trace elements. And also the following vitamins: provitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin C and E.

Smaller bean pods are often referred to by the French name haricots verts. Green beans are of nearly universal distribution. They are marketed canned, frozen and fresh. Beans are a very important type of vegetable. For some peoples, beans are the main protein suppliers, due to their high protein content. Fine beans and extra-fine beans are exported primarily from Kenya and Tanzania.
